There are two writers in you — one who wants to write and one who doesn’t. Which one are you today and in 2022?

Most times, it boils down to making that choice, day in and day out — before you sit to write, in the middle of the session, just 5 minutes before the writing session ends. Whether to write or not. It is like listening to two presentations by your inner self — one good but feeble, another crappy and obnoxiously loud, yet leaning more towards the latter.

It is fine, writing is tough. It is not easy to concentrate and keep your bottoms fixed at one place when they can go to so many places, albeit the places they go to now are mostly within the home itself. It is a herculean task to climb this mountain of writing and we can’t afford the gears to make it easier (which by the way we manufacture in ourselves).

It is tough.

It is tough.

It is indeed tough.

Now that the dinosaur in the room has been addressed and acknowledged. Let us get to work.

The process of writing metaphorically kills us through it, only for us to come out alive after going through it. The pain of the process is enough, let us not let the decision to start the process torment us.

Let us build a writing habit.

Let us choose actions towards writing over actions against writing.

Let us choose writing over not writing. Today, tomorrow, day after, in 2022 and beyond.

Happy writing in 2022!
